I am being told that I cannot get a jack for an ipod on the C5 older than 2005. Is that true? I have a CD/AUX button, wouldn't there be a RCA input or something on the back of the head unit?
Go to peripheralelectronics.com and look at their product. I installed on my 2003 and you can use the radio controls to operate the ipod. It installs behind the head unit so refer to vette essentials website for radio access instructions.

Contact Dennis (C5 Bearsfan) http://forums.corvetteforum.com/memb...-bearsfan.html he can hook you up, I have a 2002 and use my itouch in it, The better way to go is to get an adaptor (pac-audio) that plugs into the back of the radio and has a lead that plugs into your ipod and it will also charge it, This way is a lot better than just the standard 1/8 inch jack.

Just be sure that you are willing to loose the CD changer. Most people don't much care about this anymore, but you will loose it. perepheralelectronics is now pac-audio so these may be the same as Mr. Bill suggestion.
You'd have to contact freecomwireless and ask them, theirs says it leaves the changer in-place but doesn't say if it is functional or not.
Either solution will work, just a matter of what you want...

Do you have one of those? If so, what are your impressions?
I might pick one of those up. I really don't care to have one that charges the iPod, I have a fear that it'll drain the battery even when unplugged. Yes, I've read the threads. I just want an auxiliary jack for my iPod. Could've used one for my 13 hour drive a couple weeks ago but the FM transmitter worked.

Funny thing is, no I don't have one. I have looked around at all of the solutions I could find and settled on this one. I don't have an Ipod either but just wanted one to hooke to the headphone jack of my Napster player and recharge via the usb plug that this provides.
My only holdback is that the website doesn't actuall say that the CD changer is still operational. It say it is still there, iplying yo ucan still use it. I'll probably do this in the vette and the suburban.
I am going to hide the connections in the ash tray or the console and finish tham out nice and clean. I like the ash tray option because I can return the car to stock by replacing the ash tray and pulling the device out. I rather not cut a hole in an expensive part.
I bought a pxdx "aux2car" adapter and cable to plug it directly into the back of the factory radio for around $85. Works great, gives you a 3.5mm jack to plug into any ipod/zune/mp3 player. No charging to worry about. You mount the adapter box anywhere under the center console/behind the ashtray area and run the cable where ever you want. I ran mine into the center console storage area. This does eliminate the cd changer if you have one, my z06 didn't so that was no concern for me.
Not sure if we're supposed to post links to "the big auction site", but if you go and search for "pxdx corvette" you'll find the kit I purchased for $85 currently.
