Default stock fuel rail modification

hey
ive noticed that stock fuel rail is pretty fat, only it has small openings where feed line connects or where the valve is. My 1st question is what this thing is for... please check the picture.

Also there are not many good quick adapters for stock fuel rail, russel's for example leak.
My plan is to cut fuel rail ends and weld new fittings to them and then connect stock fuel line to one end and parallel bosch 044 fuel line to the other. whould that work. thanks

on a 97-97, that would be the fuel pressure regulator.....on a 99-04 it's the fuel damper.

you might give A&A a call, and find out what fittings they install with their kit.

so fuel dumper smooths out the fuel flow correct? What about aftermarket rails, they dont have it.
A&A fittings look very good. But that just to much for me. So many connections have bigger possibility of a leak, also expensive. For me its much cheaper here in eu just to weld some large barb fittings to the fuel rails. Im not sure about that fuel dumper though. If you put aftermarket FPR after the rails would that solve dumper problem. thanks

I believe it absorbs the pressure pulse, as opposed to smoothing flow. In a fairness, the damper disappeared on the LS2.

it won't matter I would think .The computer is what tells the injecters how much fuel to let in the cyliders it would be like having a bucket with a valve that only let so much out at one time be it a cup or a bucket the trick is in ajusting the injecters and you might burn rich with out mods
