I was thinking about ordering these fog light screens today from LA Performance. (the factory ones) I called them yesterday to find out how these things go on. He said that they are suppose to be bolted on. But he said that some people tape them in or velcro them in some how ( which does not sound like a good idea ). Im just curious who has done this and how they did it ?

Re: Another Z06 screen install question ............. (Anthony Cleveland)
He means the rear plastic where the little lights mount (filler plastic piece).
Regarding the screens, I painted the black edge to match my car (pewter) and screen matches if not in direct sunlight and installed with "Industrial Strength" (no joke) velcro from Wally World on the top and bottom of the screen plastic (not on the ends or they won't go all the way in correctly). Put cardboard (manila folder) between velcro when installing, pull out cardboard, push against velcro and they "ain't goin nowhere!" But, they can be removed from the outside for cleaning lights, etc. if need be. All the best. :yesnod:
Re: Another Z06 screen install question ............. (Avanti)
How does the plastic filler piece come out ? This piece remains out after the screens are installed ?
Is this entire install done in front of the car. Do you have to go in behind the fog light/screens ?
I just want to make sure that if I do this it does not look half a%%.

Pulling the foglight shrouds out is a royal PITA. Easier to use a hole saw or dremel and drill some 1" dia holes in the shrouds to let fresh air in. Once the screens are on you CAN NOT see the holes in the fog light shrouds. Use 3M Body Moulding souble sided tape for the best and easiest install results.
Re: Another Z06 screen install question ............. (Anthony Cleveland)
Anthony, first question to ask is do you want the screens to be functional or not? On the Z06, the screens admit air into the engine compartment, and the Z06 doesn't have foglights or the black plastic surround. If you're doing this just for looks, you can leave the factory surround in place and still put the Z06 screens on in front of them. You may have to trim the rear edge of the screens to fit, but it won't be noticeable when installed.

Wamara,
I had NO idea that those sceens were functional. No wonder I was soooo confused about what others were talking about. It would be nice if they were functional and all but I like the way they look more. I prefer to leave the fog lights in and the plastic around the lights. Now I am wondering if the screens will even go in with all of that in place.
I sure am glad I posted this before I ordered these suckers.
Re: Another Z06 screen install question ............. (Anthony Cleveland)
I have had my screens in for over a year now with the tape and there has been no problems yet. Take the time and take out the black plastic fog light surrounds and do it right. When I taped mine in I used tape along the entire top and bottom of the screens. Run the tape across the top of the screen and cut it about 2 inches long. Then trim the tape where it meets the edge of the screens but leave the masking material. Do this on the top and the bottom of the screens. Then put the screens in place with the masking still on, and the 2 inch of masking left will give you a tab to pull on and reveal the tape. This will let you get them just right and when you have it where you want it, just pull on the tab of masking tape. They look great and with the addition of a new intake it make a definate improvement in HP.
Re: Another Z06 screen install question ............. (Anthony Cleveland)
I think you will understand how easily they install once you receive them.
It is a very snug fit and they practically hold themselves in place.
I personally think that Velcro is the best approach. This will allow you to easily remove them to adjust the fog lights or cut out that factory shroud that is blocking the cold air. The double sided tape is very permanent and will most likely be a royal PITA if you want to remove them for any reason.
I don’t have fog lights on mine, but I’m pretty sure you can keep the lights and completely remove the factory shroud. I’m assuming the shroud just has a hole for the lights and nothing else.
Re: Another Z06 screen install question ............. (Anthony Cleveland)
Can someone explain to me what the "functionality" is of letting high pressure air into the engine compartment? You should know that these screens do not channel air to the engine air intake, nor to the brakes, either of which might be useful, but rather feed it directly into the engine compartment around the sides of the actual intake shroud. Along with whatever other dirt and debris which might be inhaled as well.
Some people actually spend money to avoid this by buying a seal which supposedly stops this kind of thing from happening at the front edge of the hood. I guess I am confused about the "functionality" point.
Re: Another Z06 screen install question ............. (rbeckham)
Used 3M double sided tape. Just take your time and it will fit perfectly. I have hit over 150 and no problems yet! Here is what they will look like on a black car...
Re: Another Z06 screen install question ............. (Anthony Cleveland)
I like the velcro 'cuz you can clean them and 'cuz you can return to the stock look if you want.
No need to remove anything.
I should mention that I took mine appart, painted the screens with Rust-O-Leum, aluminum colored paint, glued them back together again and just used regular velcro bought at any Home Depot.
Re: Another Z06 screen install question ............. (Anthony Cleveland)
Im not sure about painting the screens all up , but I do like the idea of using velcro. I should get these things sometime next week ,should be interesting.
