A stone-stock? lol. I am not sure what kind of actual tuner would be good. I used Diablosport on my Lightning and my Dodge Diesel when I had it. You should throw some good bolt ons on it and go see Stephen over at EnglandGreen in Houston does some pretty nice tunes from what I hear. My car is there now.
Hi, neighbor. I just moved to Rowlett last fall; like this area pretty well.
As soon as they get the turnpike completed, that is.
There was a big article in one of the magazines a while back - either Corvette Fever or GM Hi-tech Performance. (you might search their websites and find it online?)
As I best remember, they compared power and torque improvements on a bone-stock Vette when tuned with the popular hand-held tuners.
All were actually pretty close - with improvements like 15 torque, and a bit less HP. I remember the Diablo Predator was among the best, and prioced well; and the Hypertech did well also. But, we're talking 2-3 HP/tq differences among most of them.
Pricing was in the $350-$400 range, about what the good local tuners charge for a dyno tune - but the hand-held can be used for other jobs, also, I hear; like scanning codes and trouble-shooting, and updating if you do mods later.
Do you want to tune it yourself or take it somewhere? Mail order tune?
I sent my PCM to Chuck CoW and Corvettes of Westchester (03 A4 Vert) and was very happy with the results. There are plenty of tuners in Texas. Corvettes of Dallas seem like a pretty good place.

My car is an automatic and it has less then firm shifts. I was hoping to dial some new parameters in myself.

Thanks for the good words. I have "looked" at the units you mentioned, as well as one made by Jet. They all seem to have the same general features.

If that's what you want, you really should talk to Chuck. You could buy the unit from him. Call and ask him how you guys can work together to tune the car like you want.
I'm not making a dime here, but really call Chuck, I think you'll be surprised at the deals he offers.
