I would guess 75-100 lbs at least with all the gear in it.

Default Really????

Hummm... really? 75-100 pounds . Stamped steel door frame and poly-plastic whatever door skin weighs what ? A 9 pound window, electric window regulator assy 7 pounds, door speaker 3 pounds, weather strip 1/2 pound, mirror 3 pounds, hinges 6 1/2 pounds, interior door panel and electrics 6 pounds .Equals 35 pounds minus the actual door frame and outer skin.

Anyone else care to guess?

Default Interesting.............. still confused.

Thanks Doug. That link is interesting but conflicks with two other sources that I have contacted ; Colton at Corvette Recyclers , Utah says 60 pounds (85 pounds crated for shipping ) and ED at Broken Arrow Corvette, OK says 60 pounds (minus the side mirror which weighs 3 pounds). Both quoted $125 and $130 respectively for shipping. Both of these sources I know personaly and both are referencing the FRC/hardtop drivers door.

Why is there a 60 pound plus difference in the quoted weights from Dino's Corvette and the other two (2) Corvette wreckers? I see that Dino's advertizement says 125 pounds 'shipped'. I have emailed Dino's to inquire as to actual door assembly weight and their shipping weight.

This whole question arises now that I'm old and feeble. I can handle a 60 pound door by myself but double the weight and I'll have to use a mechanical device (Auto Twirler)

I've R&R dozens of car doors over the years from pickups to sports cars . Only a couple of C3es and they were pushing a 100 pounds (guesstimate) easy. but the whole car was heavy.

I'll post when I get confirmation

Don't you have someone that can HELP? About the only people that would know these #'s are the salvage people. How many normal owners WEIGH thier door? Not many I'm guessing. Assuming the link I posted is close, taking 25 lbs or so off for crating, I still stick by my 1st guess of 75-100 lbs.

Doug , both folks that I quoted are owners of Corvette wrecking yards ( Corvette Recycling and Broken Arrow Corvette). Colton at Corvette Recyclers said his crate is 25 pounds ( shipping weight of 85 pounds total). Both wrecking yards say 60 pounds for the complete door ( I mentioned all this in my last post ).

I'm still waiting for your reference link to a Corvette wrecking yard( Dino's Corvette)to respond to my query. They quote SHIPPING weight of 125 pounds . How much of that is the shipping crate, who knows? A shipping pallet can weight 60 pounds. So strapping a 60 pound door to a 60 pound shipping pallet would answer that question. Corvette Recyclers box up the doors, which accounts for their 85 pound shipping weight.

"How many normal owners Weigh their doors?" Well I asked 'cause most folks know the difference between 60 pounds and 125 pounds, don't you agree Doug. That was all I was inquiring about, personal experience and a guestimate.

But I have two Corvette wrecking yards that were very specific at 60 pounds and I'll ask a few more credible sources before I decide what tactic to use when I R&R this door. Thanks again Doug for your help.

Removing a door the right way is a two man job with a good floor jack either way.

Default the "right" way?

The right way requires two men? What is the source for that statement? I've R &R dozens of car and pickup doors by myself with no problems in my custom car fabrication business using devices I've created and technics appropriate to each job. But now being retired and having health issues it's even more prudent to thoroughly reasearch the project from begining to end, which is the reason for this entire thread . Finding that the weight of the door is in fact 60 pounds or less solves the question of what device that aid in the installation.

I have a cradle that attaches to a floor jack (like this Eastwwod version). I use suction cups and small electric winch. Also a stand alone door handler (like this one pictured)

CF member Tony (aka ajg1915) is selling a C5 door assembly and guesstimates the door assy weight at 40-50 pounds. So with four resources that concur the door weight , this concludes my search for the information.

Appreciation to all CF members.
