is your pedal pulsing ?
How much pad you got left ?
It doesn't really pulse that bad if at all. It does, however, do this lurching kind of thing below 20mph under braking. One time the pedal was pulsing real bad but I did a few hard stops and it fixed itself. That was months ago. Now I'm seeing this.
Not sure how much pad is left now but looked fine 4 or so months ago.
Brakes are a little jittery. Did some hard stops and now I see this. What am I seeing here?
This is one of the classic symptoms of uneven pad transfer layer deposits, sometimes referred to as "heat checking". If not too severe, it is sometimes cured by re-bedding the brakes. If that doesn't do it, your pads probably have some glazing (the resin binders that "glue" all the pad compound components together has melted and left the surface shiny instead of dull).
If glazed, they must be sanded down to a smooth, dull finish and re-bedded. The best method at home is to use a sheet of 120 grit sandpaper laid down on a flat surface. Oscillate the pad face down until the glazing is removed.
Since the caliper is already out of the way, scrub both sides of each rotor with either Scotch-Brite (a lot of work) or a Flex-Hone (easy as pie). Do not use sandpaper as it removes iron and makes it virtually impossible to keep the surface flat by hand.
