Default what else to replace when doing transmission/clutch?

anyone ever done a clutch or transmission replacement?

my transmission is stuck in 4th and have almost decided on RPM tranny level 4.

these are the parts that come to mind while i'm in there....

clutch/flywheel
some type of remote bleeder for slave cylinder
new slave cylinder
inspecting torque tube bushings/bearings?
new exhaust bolts/hardware
transmission cooler?
pilot bearing
do rear main seal possibly

car is currently stranded in my garage and only useable in 3rd gear.

i have access to do this job at my job(dealership) for roughly two days and would like to do everything in one shot. cannot inspect and realize i gotta take it apart AGAIN

any recommendations for parts? which clutch to get?

my application is street/some autocross/ HPDE track toy.
stock 405 HP.

In your case, it's hard to beat the LS7 clutch for cost and similar driveability. Cost is about $450 or so for the LS7 clutch/flywheel/pressure plate.

Don't forget the fluids! New trans fluid, brake fluid for the clutch and maybe even some differential fluid since it'll be super easy to drain and fill once everything is out of the car.

You're going to disconnect the rear brakes so how about bleeding the rest of the system? I did.

Tunnel plate? You'll have it off anyway. May as well install a thicker one on there.

I would go with headers, I did when I did those things you're planning.

New plugs/wires.

Make sure you have a torque wrench. You will need it for the flywheel/pressure plate.

...... with the above points.

Plus your list.... but......... I wouldn't touch the rear main seal unless there is evidence that it is leaking and the trans cooler is a personal preference option.

Good Luck......

And get new ARP bolts for the flywheel and pressure plate. Do not go cheap on those and try to re-use the old bolts. Use a torque wrench and make sure you have everything torque'd down correctly. If something is wrong, you won't find out until you put everything back together and drive the car.

Where can I get the around bolts?
Are there any disadvantages with going to ls7 clutch?
Not concerned too much with a stiff pedal but I'm all for it if the design is superior and reliability and durability are better.

Anyone bought an rpm transmission?
I've heard of tranzilla in NY but more people seem to mention rpm on the boards.

Thanks again.

You can get the bolts and LS7 clutch kit from Mike:

http://www.eastcoastperformance.net/

He's a vendor here on the forum, bought my stuff from him.

I can't really think of any disadvantages to the LS7 clutch. You don't have to balance the flywheel, it has a stock feel and since it's stock on the C6 Z06, you know that it can withstand your power. And for the price, you definitely cannot beat the LS7 clutch kit.

I got my RPM Level IV from a vendor who was running a 10% off special at that time. Saved a couple hundred bucks. They will FedEx freight you the trans, you go pick it up at the hub. I think they give you about 30 days to return your core. You just take all your sensors and plugs off the old trans and transfer them to the RPM trans.

You can get options on your RPM trans, they pretty much build them when you order them. They are very friendly people to deal with:

http://www.rpmtransmissions.com/c5pricing.html

I got the bronze fork pads on mine.

Also, return of your core is included in the price. You just take your core back to FedEx, sign a few papers and you're good to go.
