I prev replaced my factory shift **** ,however now i noticed the arm itself ,(which is the factory 2 piece version ) is loose . You can twist about 1/2inch either way or more when grasping shifter. Which is annoying (it is not the shifter **** that is loose it is firmly on top part of shifter arm)I was thinking about pouring some epoxy down the inside through the top of threaded shaft with a glue syringe. also trying some industrial glue on outside to alleviate looseness however not sure it will work. Any feedback/or past experience from the members with this issue?. Really prefer a fix rather than a replace. The vette is a 1999 c5 6 speed stock

Reason: addition
The shifter housing is bolted to the torque tube. So I don't see how you could be twisting it using the shift lever. unless you cracked the mounting strap.
Sounds like the vibration dampener joint has come free (the large diameter point where the mount arm and the shifter arm join) http://
For a DIY drill and install two roll pins. Or simply replace the shifter arm assembly( that mounts to the shift box). The C5 shifters are cheap( <$50) or you could swap it out for a C6 shifter assy. (<$120)
Thanks for reply guys,I think dieseldave nailed it. It moves right where the black piece joins the other piece. held a mirror under and it moves right by the rubber ring where they join. Can a novice do this R/R JOB. i was thinking of pouring epoxy down the hollow opening at top, Not sure if that would create a bigger problem lol. any idea where stock oem shifter could be had worst case i have to change.Ecklers and other seem to show only the short throws or others. Would my local chevy dealer carry this.
Are talking about the black piece under the shifter box ?
using dieseldaves pic as reference it is right where the black threaded arm at top joins the lower arm (mount arm joins the shifter arm). there is a black rubber ring joining them. sorry its hard to explain. i guess i should just replace ,and forget my bubba repair

You mean the shifter arm. Why not just have someone weld it for you ?
