I have to pull the drivetrain from my wife's car this weekend to do clutch hydraulics, so I may as well upgrade the smaller driveshaft while I have it out.
Do I need the whole 2001 +torque tube or can I do just the driveshaft inside?
I am pretty sure I toasted the bushing in my 99 torx tube today. Can I install a later model assembly in my 99? I am around 350rwhp and drive hard with upgraded heavy duty A4 but dont track the car (manually shift alot). Any modifications or will a later model bolt right up? New or used? If used should I change the bushings prior to install? Flex plate and convertor, while apart should I replace? Car has 70k miles. Any other tips or advice? Thank you
I don't see the point in replacing the TT just for the heck of it. If you are really worried about the driveline, maybe a diff brace and/or hardened output shafts.
If it fails, you WILL know. replacing something that might never fail, and only takes <3 hours to disassemble if it does, doesn't make sense to me. Spend your time/money elsewhere.
