1999 Fuel Sending unit problems...I think???
I am having a fuel pressure problem with my 1999 Convertible. The car is completely stock, as far as I know (I am the second owner). I had the car in storage for the winter, and have only run a couple tanks of gas since getting it out of storage. I was driving it the other day, and it cut off. I restarted, and it ran rough for a couple miles, just enough to limp to my mechanic. My mechanic wants to replace both of the fuel sending units. The fuel gauge shows 1/2 tank, so I added 5 gallons, and it started right up, and ran for about 5 minutes, and cut off again. I don't think it is the right hand pump, or it shouldn't have started at all. What do I need to do to fix this? I have read about cleaning or replacing the LH pump only, and using techron or seafoam or the like to clean the fuel system. will this work if it only runs for a few minutes at a time? Trying to avoid a $800 dollar repair bill...
