Tripp:
Scientifically impossible.
Turn the lights on. Wait -- 1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi. Then, turn the stalk back one notch (to parking). Good to go.
Re: Having trouble getting to headlight bulbs (evil-1)
To do this job without having to leave the park lamps on (battery drain) : with engine and light off, open the hood, pull off the black rubber booties over the headlight motors, and turn the manual **** untill the headlights are raised up. The bulbs are NOT easy to get at!
Re: Having trouble getting to headlight bulbs (ersatz928)
Owner's manual misleading, It suggest's pop up's be at 1/2 mast.
I removed the bezel's with the light's at normal open and had enough room to work with the bulb's. (bearly, a real B$#ch to get at)
thanks..tripp
Re: Having trouble getting to headlight bulbs (evil-1)
Open the hood. Turn the headlights on. Disconnect the ground to the battery using a 5/16" wrench. Remove the black bezel from the around the headlight by removing the three phillips head screws. Tilt the rear of the bezel upward as you pull it forward to allow the tab on top to come out from the top of the lense. You will then be able to reach the bulbs. The high beams are still a little harder to reach. You can do one side and reconnect the battery ground to compare the new bulb to stock as I did to actually see the difference. Just remember to put the bezel tab back in above the lense metal flap when reinstalling the bezel. Since, the battery was disconnected, you will need to relearn your key FOB's after install is complete. I've done this process twice since I later decided to do the highbeams also. It should only take about 15 - 20 minutes. :)
Re: Having trouble getting to headlight bulbs (evil-1)
I replaced all my headlight bulbs last Saturday.
I used the following process:
1. Open the hood.
2. Disconnect the headlight motor/lamp connector.
3. Remove the boot covering the manual headlight raising ****.
4. I used a 1/4" square piece of stock chucked into a drill to turn the ****.
5. Raise the headlamp cover.
6. Remove the bezel around the headlight.
7. Remove the body panel covering the headlight.
For better access to the screws I raised and lowered the headlamp cover.
Disconnecting the wire harness from the headlight is the hardest part of the job.
8. Reverse the process for assembly.
Re: Having trouble getting to headlight bulbs (evil-1)
Hey e1,
Hood up, lights on, disconnect plug and play (six wire) harness, turn lights off.
All lights are off and the headlamps will stay in the up position, then just reach up under them, disconnect the harness from the bulb, then twist the bulb and your out. Did it for a friend of mine Sat, had all four bulbs changed to APC Xenons in less than 10 minutes.
