Default Window help and clarification

My '97 has leaked since we picked her up. It all centers at the window, the passenger window primarily. I did a "tilt in" hoping that would help, but it didn't. (Tilt in, using the access at the bottom of the door and behind the door reflector.)

This time I took the door panel off and attempted to see if I could "raise" the glass. What I was working with was the clamp area that cradles the glass. Doesn't look like I had much luck.

While I had the door panel off, looking at the two clamps that hold the glass, I noticed a long threaded piece that sat perpendicular to the main clamp. Can anyone tell me what that does? I turned it a few times hoping to "Feel" the glass creep up, but I didn't discern any movement.

My dealer says they'd simply replace the insulation strips.

What I have noticed is this...the primary area for water intrusion seems to be at the top "Corner" were the window, the windshield and the removeable top insulation strips meet. Naturally, there is a splice there to allow the top to be removed.

Any suggestions would be great. Or if you think there is a particular link I should look at that's fine. I did a search early on, but didn't feel like I found the information I needed.

Note: the car has 30K miles and the insulation strips seem supple.

Thanks

There was a bulletin issued for leaks. If I remember, it was leaking around the top & side glass. I took mine to a "water leak repair shop" and bingo, they cured all my leaks, for only $200.

I"ll keep looking for a bulletin on my HD, and if I find it i'll post
