Help!...Anyone changed a C5 Starter?
The starter on my '97 just went out this afternoon. Anyone have any tips on how to remove it? I'm guessing I'll have to remove the cats/exaust.
Also if you know of a good place to buy a new one please let me know. I'm completely in the dark here. Thanks in advance.

Don't panic!! A jack, jackstands, a 13mm socket, 7mm socket and a 15 mm socket. If you don't have headers it should drop right out.
Shop it out for pricing!!

Too bad it wasn't that simple for me. Oh well it's out. For future reference I used a 15,13,10 and 8mm wrench. It looks like the starter is fine, but one of the mounting brackets broke off. I'll probably have to buy a whole new starter :rolleyes:.

I didn't break it. It was broke when I took the starter off. The bracket is one of the two 15mm holes that is in the side of the starter casing. I can take a picture if you really want to see it.
