I bought my 'vette with the manual tranny, and I literally learned how to drive a stick on my baby. After owning it for all of a month and a week, I drove it to the Corvette Drag at 75/80 on 9/9/2001 and posted several runs... I ran a 15.0 (!), a 14.16 (!) and finally broke into the 13's with a 13.75 at 104.9 mph.
That best run broke down like this:
RT: 0.9355 <-- yes, I sleep late
ET 1/8: 9.1037
ET 1/4: 13.7520
Speed: 104.9031
60 ft. 2.4044
I added a Blackwing a few weeks ago, and hit Capital Raceway.
I had ONE run ('verts get tossed if they run faster than 14.00 without a roll cage) and I scored a 13.37 at 108.6 mph with the following stats:
RT: 0.9559 <-- yes, I REALLY sleep late
ET 1/8: 8.7648
ET 1/4: 13.3754
Speed: 108.6355
60 ft. 2.1628
My gut feeling says that the car stock is probably a 13.3, and I'm still learning how to launch it... but I noticed the increase in mph and that has me wondering if the car has more to offer. My question is... is a 13.1 or a 13.0 a reasonable expectation for my car based on what these timeslips show? And if so, what do y'all recommend to start breathing on 12's?
Your driving gave you the ET improvement because your short/60' time is significantly better. The Blackwing shows itself in the MPH increase.
To better gauge youre car's potential I'd need to know the altitude of the track you visited. Traction is the next issue because it is possible to get sub 2 second 60' times on the stock tires if the track is prepped. You could be in the 12's with a low 1.9 60' time.
Gotta love those blackwings at 215 or 225.00 they add a smack in the butt that makes up alot for poor shifting.David Smilovic.Blackwing best price on forum no need to spend 5-800 pessos and with Volant attachment for 169.00 cant be touched by the over priced big boys.
Call us and lets talk about the next logical move long tube headers and exhaust. We would be thrilled to add to your Blacwing now that its breathing in lets get those spent gasses yanked from that motor.Good Luck David Smilovic(480)517-4969 ask for Nate or Mike.
