I'm having an issue with my traction control and was hoping someone might have some suggestions as to where to start.
Traction control works fine up to 55-60 mph. When I accelerate past that point under normal highway driving, the traction control activates, and is indicated on the Driver Info Center, but there is no amber light lit on the dash, nor does it trigger any codes on the computer scan.
I've searched the threads here and haven't found any similar issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated. So far you all have helped me fix my door lock, my gear for my headlight motor, my hazard switch, and given me a good laugh about the dimmer switch ****. Thanks so much!
Your front and rear tires are about equal in diameter, this is a problem.
The front tires must be shorter than the rears to avoid this issue. In stock configuration, the rear tires are approx 1.1" taller than the fronts. TC is programmed for that difference. It always expects to see the rears turning slower than the fronts.
Reducing that f/r height ratio will make TC become more sensitive, until the point you have reached, where it's sensitive enough for TC to engage even during normal driving.
There is no programming "fix" for this. You have two options to remedy this...either turn off TC before driving, or size the tires correctly.
For your situation, I'd suggest switching to a set of 255/30/20 fronts, that will solve it.
That's the reason many of us run a 18/19 combo. That 1 inch usually keeps the ABS/TC happy.

You can run the same wheel size all around, heck, you can run a 20 on the front and a 17 on the rear if you want....It's only the tire dia that matters.
