Lowered the car at the weekend about 20 mm and am sick of hearing that scraping sound. Question: can I cut the front flaps? Will the two left and right ones keep the shape/form/stiffness? Or when cut will they be without any function because they flutter around?

Re: Can I cut the three black front flaps (Scott97)
As there are pros and cons I do want to keep them, but shorter. Here it´s easy to drive 165 mph on autobahns. So I would like to cut them as much as I lowered, so everything should be fine again. As long as they are stiff enough after cutting to stand against the wind.

I took mine off and actually cut them off one inch with a pair of scissors, reinstalled and no cooling problems and no unstableness at speed. And the best thing is no scraping. (well, hardly any) :D

Joe, you have all the neat toys. :)
I used a bandsaw with a guide to remove 1 inch.
For the first time on Saturday... my front air dam was barely tripping the staging lights while I rolled up to the start line at Sac... the first time I did it I thought something was wrong... after the second time I figured it out. :)
Re: Can I cut the three black front flaps (C5 Frederik)
Maybe I'm the only one that sees it this way: those flaps are probably designed to deflect a certain amount of air towards the radiator for cooling. You'd think that the amount of air moved would be a function tof the surface area of the air dam. If this is true, wouldn't cutting the air dam risk the engine from getting adequate air and overheat? At the very least I'd think that your engine temps would run a little higher ( which probably could be compensated for with a lower thermostat and fan switch). Maybe you should monitor your engine temps after cutting to be sure.
