I am thinking about getting some new shocks. If you set the HAL shocks to about the setting of the Bilstein are they somehow better? Or are the six
hundert bucks only because I can adjust the HALs?

Re: HAL Shocks much better than Bilstein? (City_Cobra)
They are better because you can adjust them to any setting you want, from a Lexus to an all out track car. And it takes less than 30 seconds per wheel to adjust. The car handles great!

I upgraded from Bilsteins to HAL's and am glad I did. The response of the car is much smoother and being able dial up a drag suspension, and 30 seconds later a road course suspension, is really great.

Those HALs sound great. Does the car get lowered when puttiing them on? I want to lower my 2001 vert. Stock wheel gap is WAAAAYYYY too big. My only hesitation is that I don't want to have to worry about bottoming out when I'm driving over roads that are uneven or have some dips in them.
With the HAL's can you actually get a softer ride without sacrificing much in the area of agressive handling performance? I'm not a drag strip guy. I just like to drive a little agressively sometimes on country roads and such.

$600.00? I was quoted $1200.00!! Who is your vendor?
I think he means $600 difference. The difference is probably at least that much since the $600 looks like it's relative to recent GP pricing from supporting vendors ($269 for the BS and $859 for the HAL.)

Please advise!!!!!!!
MrVegas,
I lowered the car at the same time the HALs went on so I don't know if the shcoks would lower the car without actually cutting the bushings.
You can get a great ride yet still have great handling. The HALs are great!

Re: HAL Shocks much better than Bilstein? (NoMercy)
How are they adjusted?? With a lowered car is it easy to gain access?
NoMercy,
They are very easy to adjust, even on my car which is pretty low. :D
You just have to get on your back or side and reach behind the wheel where the shock is and turn a little **** on the shock. You can hear a "click" everytime you turn it one rotation, and each time it clicks, you have just changed the setting. As you probably know, there are 12 settings.

I actually went with adjustable Konis. The gas pressure is so high in those shocks it actuall raised my car about .5". They are incredible shocks though. The adjustment range is very wide. Another member that road races told me that the range goes from about 50% softer than ZO6 shox to about 250% stiffer (rebound control). I believe it as I have tried both. Jeckyl and Hyde...
