Since you are in Phily ... you may want to see if the VetteDoctors or Cartek has LS1Edit ... then you could get a fully custom program ... I have the HyperTech ... it is a good unit ... but not if you have done more than just simple mods ... I bought it for my old car because I got new wheels that were throwing off my Speedometer ... but if you have done more ... try LS1Edit ...
Re: ED WRIGHT,TTS POWER LOADER, LS1 EDIT, HYPERTECH: PROS & CONS (Buckmaster)
Buckmaster,
I will concurr with your remarks due to my personal experience. I got my PL reprogrammed for a heads/cam install and it would not program. Sent it back in Nov last year and waited with old program on non idleing car till March and told him not to re program( as though he was just goin to jump right in there and do it). Emailed to send it back being I paid for it initially and it is mine. I am taking bets that I never see the PL again. Anyone want odds? I bought the LS1edit and immediately set the idle to where it should have been and am doing small adjustments as to torque management, shift firmness, Power Enrichment, etc till I conqueor the learning curve of the program.
If you want your PCM programmed in your life time....I would not look to Cole. Just my experience.
Re: ED WRIGHT,TTS POWER LOADER, LS1 EDIT, HYPERTECH: PROS & CONS (DUKE)
Must agree with Buckmaster and Duke. Had my PL sent back for a recal in November of '01 for H/C and as of today still no PL. I called 3-4 time every week for the last 3-4 weeks and Steve/Judy advised its will be sent by the end of the week but still nothing. Called again and spoke to Judy and she advised its still not ready so I cancelled my recal today asking for a refund as its being ridiculous waiting for months. I've also defended Steve the last few weeks but I'm fed up with the long wait. Vettewrench decided to use LS1 Edit instead (along with autotap) on my car and its a great alternative.
Re: ED WRIGHT,TTS POWER LOADER, LS1 EDIT, HYPERTECH: PROS & CONS (TyVette01)
Ed Wright all the way!!! I was promised a PL II by Mr. Cole and he never came through. This really sucked because I had other work done at the same time and needed the PL to complete. God, I hate being lied to. Ed Wright had a programmed PCM overnighted and saved the day!! I wouldn't recommend Steve Cole to any one. (Except Mustang Guys!!)

Re: ED WRIGHT,TTS POWER LOADER, LS1 EDIT, HYPERTECH: PROS & CONS (TyVette01)
Only con to the PL II is it only took 2min & 23 seconds to load!!! :D
Maybe with you guys taking your tuning else were, I will get the PLII for my pickup quicker now!
When your operation is a one- man- show and ya get behind, its hard to get caught back up especially with his surgery complications as Matt had written on.
I would definetly get my tuning done for a moded car locally anyway. Hard to hold the phone closer to the dyno
Re: ED WRIGHT,TTS POWER LOADER, LS1 EDIT, HYPERTECH: PROS & CONS (TyVette01)
If you want a professional to tune your car then go with Ed Wright. He is the man and has great customer service. If you need a local shop or want to try it yourself go with LS1 Edit, it's a great alternative.
Re: ED WRIGHT,TTS POWER LOADER, LS1 EDIT, HYPERTECH: PROS & CONS (Godspeed)
appreciate the replies. i have known about power laoder problems and i notice nothing has change with their unexcusable delays. with the addition of edit it must be eating up the pl market. i was not going to go the route of the pl unless the company got its act together so i am leaning towards local tuning from the vette doctor or ed wright. what are your impression of hypertech? :seeya
Re: ED WRIGHT,TTS POWER LOADER, LS1 EDIT, HYPERTECH: PROS & CONS (Buckmaster)
Buckmaster our experience with Cole is about the same. Only difference, now he has my unit that I paid for and if he does send it back ever....I will gladly come on this forum and post an apology.
And I agree with the post pro comment that it takes 2-3 min to load. Yet, a life time to get one....
Re: ED WRIGHT,TTS POWER LOADER, LS1 EDIT, HYPERTECH: PROS & CONS (TyVette01)
with the addition of edit it must be eating up the pl market.
I doubt the PCM locked version will erode it all that much. There are still many folks who would prefer the convenience of the Powerloader and wouldn't touch creating their own tuning. But I do think the marketing strategy the unlimited PCM users choose could have an impact.
...i am leaning towards local tuning from the vette doctor or ed wright. what are your impression of hypertech? :seeya
Dyno tuning is the way to go if you really want a custom tune that eeks out the last HP. What may have changed with LS1-Edit is that more and more shops will be able to provide that sort of service. YMMV on the results since they are a function of the shops' experience and knowledge. The folks who don't really need custom tuning but are looking for what I've taken to calling "enthusiast tuning" will probably continue to opt for the Hypertech/Superchip/Powerloader/Fastchip route unless the tuners shops offer the same sort of (fairly generic) tuning at a competitive price. The Hypertech is the hands down most convenient set up out there but it doesn't offer much in the way of truly custom tuning.
If you like to tinker and don't mind (or even enjoy) monkeying with computers, LS1-Edit is the way to go. :D
Re: ED WRIGHT,TTS POWER LOADER, LS1 EDIT, HYPERTECH: PROS & CONS (Buckmaster)
Hey Buck,
I have no problem with calling them as I see them either.........Supply and demand. That's the American way!
I do Nuc inspections, ISO audits and QA things in general , I KNOW BLUNT and FACTS............Hehehe
The truth is a hard thing to find continuosly now a days. Seems to be a dying credential..........
It is also hard to beat the truth, cause it all comes out in the end anyway.
I always tell it like it is with a common sense spin on it, never have to remember the lie I told 2 weeks ago!
I am not always popular because of that trait, but I am credible and when its crunch time, I get the job.
I sell parts all the time because of my customer sevice!( Price ain't bad either)
and word of mouth, I don't advertise much. Lots of repeat business
But, I was serious about you guys taking your tuning else were, I will get the PLII for my pickup quicker
:jester :jester
When all else fails I laugh about it because:
Payback is a BIT@#
It will come back around sooner or later
It ain't worth getting an ulcer over
Life is to short, so have a  , thats what I i am doing as I type.
I don't like it either but, hey maybe we will get a rebate because we are patient customers?????????
STEVE..........ARE YOU READING?????? :D :D
Re: ED WRIGHT,TTS POWER LOADER, LS1 EDIT, HYPERTECH: PROS & CONS (ALLTHROTTLE&NOBOTTLE)
This Steve Cole/Powerloader thing has been beaten to death. I was shafted by Cole, so I will never deal with him again unless I have to. And there are enough great tuners out there, that I don't have to. If you want to wait, deal with Steve. If you don't want to wait, you don't have to. Get another tuner. It is the American way.:flag
Very Simple.
