Default Hi-Flow Cats

Rather than replacing your cat-back exhaust, anyone just replaced their cats with hi-flow types to improve horses? An off-road X would solve this, but I'd like to stay emissions legal. Any thoughts?

Yes, I replaced my cats with Random Technology hi flow cats; they have the best flow rating of all the manufacturers. I have no before/after numbers to substantiate by opinion, however, SOTP meter read zero for this mod.

I'd say you pick up 5-8 rwtq.

I prefer C&L Hi-Flows. 450cfm ea if I recall on the 2.5". $89 each.

Heya,

Looks like they are $85 each. You'll want the 2.5" SD's. 3" are hard to fit and unnecessary with the muffler restrictions.

Cat removal on a 425 RWHP car netted a total of ~5 HP (and some resonance). Unless they are plugged, it may be a poor value mod.

TorchedTexan picked up approximately ~15-20 RWHP/TQ under the curve. But of course you won't see this if you just compare peak numbers.

The off road x-pipe is next on my list, as soon as I can find a "friendly" inspection station. And of course I will only drive it "off-road" only :D
