The compressor still turns on though, its not seized or anything so I'm not sure what happened?
Your clutch isn't being energized ..

LP switch ( no charge ) perhaps ....

Wow, that is an expensive compressor. I think I paid just under $1000 to put an entire new Vintage Air system into a SBC 240z. Of course labor would have been through the roof, but I did it all myself and had to rip out the whole dash.

I'm not sure why they ding you so hard on the compressor. New rotary style compressors for other cars are usualy under $300 for other cars. Must be a special corvette tax.

it seems that ac compressors have been a pretty hot topic on the forum lately haha. here is the write-up i used.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...-write-up.html

be sure to get 2 water pump gaskets. you do not need the water pump o-ring, as the water pump housing is still sealed when it is removed. it lists all the parts and tools you will need. you dont need a flush gun. a can of pressurized ac flush and an air compressor with a rubber tipped blow gun will work just fine. i flushed out every component when i did mine. i also replaced the accumulator.
