scan tool for reading steering position?
I just went through replacing harmonic balancer, removed steering rack - made sure to bungie tie the steering wheel in center position. Now getting C1286 and sometimes C1288 codes. Reset, keeps coming back. Cleaned the two frame mounted ground connections, reseated and checked connectors, had steering aligned. Still getting these codes.
Which not too expensive scan tool can read, and display, the steering wheel sensor data? I have HP Tuners, but it seems deaf and dumb to the non PCM sensor data except to display the trouble codes. Before tearing down the steering column I sure would like to know what the steering analog sensor is outputting.....
Saw in an older post that Bill Curlee recommend the ACTRON CP9180 scan tool - anyone know if that reads the steering wheel sensor data?
