Two years ago I added a transmission cooler to my 2000 A4. Seemed to help but this year doesn't seem to be the same but I did not keep a written record of the temps at different times. When my coolant is at 192, the engine oil is 200-212, and the transmission fluid is anywhere from 170 to 190. Does this seem right? I thought there should be at least a 20 degree cooler difference between the coolant and the transmission fluid. comments?
I've got a B&M 24K cooler (see sig for mods).
I live in South Carolina. Once the outside temperature reaches aprox 80my "normal operating temperature" is aprox 90 degrees above ambient . So if its 87* outside I'm running at aprox 177. If I get stuck in stop and go, or heavy traffic I'll climb to as high as 205 -210. According to a post by Evil Twin, some time ago, 210 is NOT too hot for an A4.You can do a search for his post or maybe he'll pipe in. If Evil Twin says something its NO BS. I"ve also got my fans adjusted to come on a little earlier than stock.Hope that makes you feel better.
PS- if you're still not happy check your lower fresh air uintake for leaves and/or trash.
Thank you 99 babyvette. Your comments reflect what I thought and hoped. I had read several years ago on some posts that the fluid temps should not get above 190 which did not make a lot of sense to me then or now. Glad your experience with the same B & M cooler that I have is the same as my experiences.
