2002 c5 corvette, bolt on-s, ls7 clutch and flywheel, zo6 slave cylinder and master cylinder.
just had my clutch, flywheel, slave and master cylinder replaced less than 1000 miles ago by a performance shop. car started grinding when shifting into 3rd about 5 days ago. then started grinding into 4th occasionally. now it seems harder to pull out of gear then usual. 5th especially. the shop is telling me its the transmission. just doesnt seem correct to me. is this not a clutch or shifter problem?
Change your transmission fluid (likely a good idea either way), if there is no change/improvement in the grinding then its not likely the trans, as new fluid seems to make an improvement in most cases here where the synchros are having some trouble.
If the syncro's are shot though, changing the fluid won't do much... Does the clutch pedal feel "weak"? How many miles on the tranny, and did it grind before the shop had it?
Sounds like the EXACT same problem I had in my '99. Changed to Royal Purple Synchromax. No help. Realigned shifter. No help. Bled the hydraulics...BIG help. My clutch wasn't fully disengaging due to air/junk in the system. Hope this helps!
after talking to tick performance and east coast performance and doin a few road tests, all fingers pointed to the keys in 3/4 and the blocking ring in 3rd is most likely cracked or damaged. so the vehicle is at east coast performance getting looked further into. i pushed the clutch all the way in in 1st and ran the rpms up past 5000 and car didnt move a bit, and figured that test took something wrong with the new clutch and slave cylinder out of the question, thanks for all of your inputs
