Default So the new coolant tank is throwing a code. Never knew it differed

After having the tank done in Hydro Carbonfiber and installing it on my car I get a "low coolant level" error on every startup. I did some research and found the sensor changed but the tank stayed the same. Has anyone ever had both sensors side by side? I am wondering if I find a new sensor compatable with my 2001 can I just swap the sensors? Also at which year did they change?

Sounds like the sensor is just plain bad. I just replaced the tank on my 98 and it still works fine.

I mixed some vinegar (~1/2 cup) in with my water once and that helped allot... if your using tap water I think the sensor gets fouled

I never use my washers anyway

Thats a great idea. I do know for a fact that the sensors differ and I am sure thats my problem. I have a buddy looking into it now. Once I can confirm date of change I will post up for future referance.

The sensor is built into the tank and there are differences between years for C5's. The plug will connect to either style but if it's the wrong tank/sensor then the low coolant message will appear. This happened to me when I had custom tanks painted and the supplier sent me the wrong model year. He was unaware that there was a difference. After getting the correct model year tank and repainting the new one worked correctly. I beleive the difference changed from 1999 to 2000, but don't quote me. A chevy dealership should be able to provide you with the different model numbers, which is printed on the tank.

Review this Service Bulletin, it might help. Might need to be adjusted.
