Alignment Question
I'm getting ready to buy two front tires. The old ones are wearing fairly evenly.
Because there's no uneven wear when I put the new tires on do I need a wheel alignment?
I always ask myself that same question. I always get it done cause no car stays in aligmnet for ever. On the other hand, I just had a 4 wheel alignment and it turned out to already be in spec. So I wasted the cash. :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash:  :yesnod:  :) :seeya
To me, an alignment never hurts. If I was in your situation, I would probably not get an alignment and save myself some money. But if it's piece of mind that you want, spend the money for the alignment.
Even wear on the fronts is an indication that the front was aligned for most of the service life of the tires. It does not nessecarily mean its currently aligned. The cost of alignment is $?? versus the cost of tires only getting 1/2 there expected life is $??. You decide which is the better gamble.
You have a good point, but if even wear on your tires shows that the alignment was good during the use of those tires, unless something happened since the old ones were taken off, the alignment should still be okay, right?.....this is coming from a person who was an auto technician at Merchant's Tire and Auto center.....My personal recommendation is to save the money on the alignment at this time, and get one down the road when you will need it later.
Ditto here also. Don't fix it if it isn't broken. Getting an alignment may actually screw up the alignment enough that you may not like what you get. Remember there is a huge tolerance on the specs so the Tech may actually choose an in spec setting that you will not like. I drove my 1991 Bravada for 8 years and 92K miles and never had a wheel alignment. I had about 8K miles on my third set of tires when I got rid of it.
