Default Active Handling Service

My '99 just told me to "service vehicle very soon" and "service active handling". The traction control is still good, but the active will not engage. Any advice? I would rather not pay Chevy $75 an hour if at all possible.

It may be an erroneous message. I've heard going over railroad tracks will sometimes trigger that message. Reset the codes and see if it comes back up.

About the only thing you can do is try to borrow a scan tool or read the trouble codes from the DIC on the problems that you are having. Once you know the codes, you can identify with the service manual what the problems are. They might be minor IE: a sensor gone bad or something major. NO way to know without code analysis. MIght be something you can easily fix or might be a dealer item. Hope that this helps.

I had that message occur when the steering wheel position sensor was failing. It took 4 trips to the dealership to fix it. There might be a Technical Service Bullitin on this problem. Hope you have better luck.
