Default FOB reprogramming problem

I recently changed FOB battery on C5 1998 . It does not hold for more than 3 minutes after DIC acknowlegement of the "learned" reprogramming or trying auto-synchronization procedures . Since I replaced the CR2450 battery in hand held FOB device it recognizes the FOB unit but does not hold the learned programming.
ANY SUGGESTIONS will be appreciated before heading to dealership?
Thanks Dejay
PS : I have followed the reprogramming DIC and unit reprogramming hold button UNLOCK/LOCK down with recognition of device but it does not save it for more than 2 to 3 minutes.

Does anyone have a new or used 1998 Radiator Reservoir for sale? The small outlet that hose connects to has a small crack that leaks slightly. Car temp is fine.
Thanks

If you search this forum a bit, you'll find that your fob problem is not uncommon. There are apparently one or more components on the circuit board whose solder joints fail.

I just had the identical problem, and re-soldering the joints seems to have fixed it. (so far!) They were obviously broken. You might take a look inside & try the same if you're comfortable with that sort of thing.

Good luck!
