DIC Issues
So a few months ago I was driving and my car suddenly went into Metric mode. I hit the E/M button and all was good. A few days later it happened again. As weeks went on, it became more and more frequent to the point where it will ofter jump back and forth constantly. Other times, it is fine. Now, the DIC buttons will completely freeze up on me and nothing will work. The car may stay in metric for an hour, or it may switch back and forth several times per minute. 80% of the time, ALL of the DIC buttons are inoperative.
I am ready to replace the whole DIC, but I figured someone might have some insight before I waste my time.

Three things come to mind right away. First is to look for water or evidence of water on or in the BCM. Second is your battery voltage which the ignition off needs to be at least 12.5vdc or higher. Third, a possible shorting wire (serial data bus) in the doorjam accordian tube area as found long ago by Bill Curlee.
