Headlight – Passenger side won’t come up manually - HELP!
Headlight – Passenger side won’t come up manually
In the past, I’ve replaced the black rubber in each headlight motor to fix the non-up problem. This time I can’t raise the headlight by turning the motor ****. As the motor runs, I assume this time the gear has failed.
My question is how do I get the headlight to come up? Any tricks?
I would say that if the gear is completely stripped then you should just be able to lift the head light up by hand. You may have to use a combination of turning the manual **** and lifting with your hand as well if it's partially stripped.
That's what I thought too but the assembly won't move (with hand power) while I'm turning the motor's ****. I thought there might be some trick to get the assembly to move?
I had to pull up (hard) on headlight housing as I turned the motor ****. Eventually it moved and I was able to get it in the up position.
The gear/black rubber was toast. I replaced the gear/black rubber with the headlight assembly on the car. I thought it was faster then removing the entire assembly.
You'll need a small 1/4 inch wrench to get to the 3 bolts that secure the plate on the motor. Remove the black wraparound and assembly top to get to the nut that secures the assembly arm to the motor shaft. Then just push on the shaft to remove the gear - be careful of the spacers and washers. Clean out the gear housing and replace the gear.
