Default Atlanta Cam Help

I have talked with Mike Brown at Vengeance and I think I have decided on their VRX5 cam. They will be doing the install and tune. My car is a 48K mile '97 6 speed with LGM Streets, no cats, ls6 intake, Blackwing, 160 thermostat and ti exhaust. I would love to actually see/ride in a car with similar mods in the Atlanta area before I pull the trigger. This is a major expense for me. I cant afford to make the wrong decision.

Anyone in the Atlanta area with a similar car / mods that would be willing to let me ride with them? I just want to see how the car will act in parking lots at part throttle.

Cam specs are:
236/238
.601/.605
113 lsa

That's a pretty good size cam for stock heads. Take your time and check around well before you pull the trigger

I run a 237/242 .609 112LSA in mine and still have stock 241 heads. I dont have any surge at any rpm. Its all in your tune!!!!

A tune will make it tolerable (read; streetable) but it is NOT the optimum cam if don't plan to install heads later.
If you run a big cam, you WILL trade off low rpm torque and response. Big cams, big hp #s, mid size cam, big torque and FUN

"Joshua" had made a couple of posts here and now they are gone. Did someone remove them?

That is odd... I made 413/386 before I put my FAST 92 on with 241 heads. My torque hits hard at 3500rpm. As soon as I get my clutch in ill go get a retune to see the gains from the FAST.

Scott,

Our VRX5 camshaft is very popular and has proven to make excellent power in a variety of combinations. That being said, I have not had the opportunity to discuss your goals with you and to know what you expect from your camshaft. There are smaller camshafts out there that will still sound awesome, but provide more power down low while making excellent peak #s....

That being said, the VRX5 can be made to be VERY drivable. Feel free to give me a call if we can help you out or you would like to discuss this further.
