I took my car today to the dealer to mount the z06 repros...well, I just got a call from the dealer saying that the rims "rub on the suspension" ... so I told them not to do it.
I can't believe this crap, first I had to wait like 2 weeks for the tires and now this. The rims are z06 size (17x9.5 and 18X10.5), the tires are 265 and 295 pirellis p-zero and my car ( a 99 coupe) is lowered not even 1" I'll say 0.8.
Is this normal??, what the hell is going on!!!!!.... I've seen so many vettes with the chrome z06 and slammed to the ground.... I told this to the guy and he said: "but they are rubbing son" why is this happening to me!!!!!..... im just
hope???... help....anybody?? :mad
Hmmm, maybe a set of used Z06 chromies coming up for sale real soon. :D :D :D :smash: Sorry, I just had to! :D I would of said to the guy you were coming right down to look at them for yourself.
I have the Z06 Repros with the F1 Supercar Tires that are standard issue for the Z06. I was not ever told of rubbing and have never heard/felt anything like rubbing.
My car is lowered more than an inch front and back.
What is the side wall measurement on your Perellis? Perhaps there is a subtle difference between the Perelli tires and the Goodyears.
Good luck with this problem as I believe the wheels are one of the best mods one can do to the Vette.
I just installed a set on my 98. Car is lowered 1" and they only rub on the body when turning and hitting a bump! I would also drive over and see what's up.
well, I just came back from the dealer. The guy told me that the front rim is rubbing the upper control arm... but here is the thing, he says that since the moment he saw the rim he knew that it was going to be too wide. So he just mounted the left-front rim without the tire to see if this was true. And of course, it rubbed. Now, I dont know how can you tell by just seeing a skinny 9.5" wide rim and say it will be too wide. What I think happened is that he grabbed the rear ones and mounted on the front.... and of course... that s&&t is way big!!! He didn't even mounted the rims with the tires... so this is not a lowering problem.
What do you guys think?????????? ...He mounted the left-front rim without the tire and it rubbed the control-arm when turning.. is that possible with a 9.5"????????
Ill try again tomorrow.. but this time i'll stay... different place of course.
