For the last 2 months on 2 occations my driver's side headlamp wouldn't close. So I would cycle the headlamp switch a few times and it would eventually go down. Well last week it stopped going down on it's own completely.
I finally got around to breaking out the Helms book today and am lost. It's like reading Greek to me. Where can I find CKT 150, 3, 306, etc...?
Does anyone know any common causes to this that may help me out?
Plus my passenger side AIR valve went on me last week. I guess it's time for a extended warrantee. :cry
Re: Need help diagnosing headlamp door problem (BLOWNGS)
This is a common problem and I had mine fixed while under warranty. The dealer shimmed the motor to hit the bumpers. Also I have heard that the bumpers can fall off and this will effect the operation of the doors. I think there are two upper and two lower bumpers on metal tabs that are visible if you remove the plastic headlight shroud.
Re: Need help diagnosing headlamp door problem (ditchdigger)
Most likely the motor has failed. They have plastic gears that the metal worm gear on the motor eventually chews up. You need to fix this before it starts to stick in the down position. Then it becomes a major PITA to fix.
Re: Need help diagnosing headlamp door problem (gonbad)
I'm not sure if it's the gears because when I turn the headlamp switch back to the off position I don't hear any noise at all from that motor, and the **** doesn't budge at all. :mad
