I have a question regarding my Z06. Last night, I took the car out for a cruise and noticed the oil pressure was maxed. I had just changed my oil pressure sending unit a week ago so I wasn't happy about it but also wasn't worried about the engine. Then I stepped on it a bit in 2nd gear ( 3-5k rpms) and the oil pressure dropped to zero so I pulled off, and the pressure came back up. It can't be the sending unit if the pressure changes can it? I'm thinking possibly oil pump but am somewhat confused about the pegged readings while normal driving and dropped readings while accelerating...
Anyone have this issue/know the underlying problem?
Thanks

Well, that complicates things a bit...... Typically, when the OPS fails, it is the sensor, and it typically pegs high. I have helped a number of guys who have had problems after doing the "cut a hole" method. Why?, because they fixed the original problem with the sensor, and damaged the wiring/connector, etc....and had the same or different problem after replacing the sensor. Not saying that this is your case, but you should be aware.
Problems that can arise:
Damaged wiring to the OPS.
Loss of connector seal, and water is allowed to collect.
A loss of a ground will cause a max oil pressure indication.
The 5 volt ref shorted to ground will cause zero indication.

was it raining or had you just washed it.
I have found that water on the sending unit will cause it to go crazy.
mine did the same thing when I washed the engine. Then after I replaced it I had the cowl off getting it painted body color and as soon as it rained it did the same thing.
Mine has the hole cut in it.
