Hi, on my C/5 it seems like every spring time or summer time when it starts getting warm out my A/C starts blowing warm air.
So the last few summers i just got so tired of taken it down to have the A/C system flushed and toped off to just the right specs..yes it did blow super cold for about 6 weeks then go back to blowing warm again. At the cost of about $145 each time they did it..
So last time it did this i went to wall mart and bought a can of R-134 with sealer in it and it did the same job as they do ..stayed cold for about 6 weeks then now its blowing warm again..
So i do know if i let them look for this small leak its going to cost my luck about a $1000.. So should i and would it be ok to just keep putting a can of R-134 in it as and if i want to use it every summer if its going to keep doing this?.
So if say i put in a can of R-134 with sealer..it will be cold for at least 6 weeks..The same as if i'm paying them every summer $145.
Should i be ok doing it like this..i have seen other forum members saying they do this..so they dont have to pay the high cost of the repair bill to find the small leak. Thanks. just need your thoughts on this matter. And i just put in some time's a 12.oz can or a 18 oz. can but they both seem to work just fine for about 6 weeks.
I just had my AC checked, (blowing warm) it had a small leak that they fixed by tightening up a connection. Seems like they would do a compression check before they put anything in it to let you know whats going on and where the leak is?
It is probably at a fitting. Slightly loose connection or a bad O ring. Find the leak and tighten the fitting or if need be replace the O ring with a refrigeration grade O ring as regular O rings will deteriorate with the freon.
Then recharge with approx 2 cans of R134a.
Can get a set of guages with R134a fittings at Harbor Freight for about $39

Yes i know. But i'm thinking if they fix it its going to cost me a lot of $$$.
Witch this days i dont have a lot of..times are hard right now.
So thats why if they dont fix are find the leak will i be doing any harm the way i have been makeing it get cold?.. Thanks dbiddle.
Thats what I thought when I took mine in. It turned out to be a good fix and time will tell. It only cost the initalial check and then some for freon. But, at least I knew what I was looking at.

ttt Yes thats how i,m looking at it, But i dont want to have mine turn out to be a hole lote of money$$$..
So what i,m trying to ask is does any one think the way i have been doing it to get cold air blowing..is to put in a can of R 134 will hurt any thing? Because i know it must have a small leak..But its just paying them to find it..So tell then should this way be ok?..It does get cold like about 40 after i put like a 16 oz can in it..
You need to top off the freon again and find someome with a freon sniffer and find the leak. The compressor body is know to leak where they are put together, look there first. You can get really good deals on the compressor, dryer, and orfice tube kits from the auction site. Do the work yourself, plenty of info on here about it. Take it in for a vacuum check and fill, shouldn't cost more than $60.00 for this.

Thanks, i will top off the freon again..and look for a shop that has a sniffer..like lots of people say.just put in some good A/C sealer and that should fix it unless its a bad leak..but it takes about 6 weeks to get warm again..so the leak cant be that bad..I hope.
