Another lowering question: How long for FRONT to settle?
OK, I lowered my FRC by cutting off two bushings in the back and just cranking down the front. The front hardly dropped in my opinion. The rear is great and just rests over the wheels.
I have heard a bunch of people talk about the "settling" effect on the front.......how long did this take for you if it happened at all? I really don't want to start cutting on the front.........
By the way, I put the Bilstein Sports on as well and they are GREAT! THANKS Shawn at the LAPD!! :yesnod: :D

If you cut bushings in the back, I'm gonna guess that you have to do the same up front - otherwise, the back will drop WAY more than the front (you even may have to remove the front bolts if you want to get it that low).
Re: Another lowering question: How long for FRONT to settle? (JohnS)
The back really isn't that terribly low (not like some of these guys). I didn't get the lowering bolts or anything and I left 1 bushing. It just seems the front hasn't even dropped!?! How about some pics of cars with the FRONTS just cranked down...........no cutting.

Sorry to piggy-back on your post, but I have an alignment question which may help you out as well. I've heard time and time again that you should have a 4 wheel re-alignment done after lowering your vette. I plan on doing this when I get around to dropping mine, but this post has raised some issues:
Should one wait until the car has fully settled before getting the re-alignment done?
Re: Another lowering question: How long for FRONT to settle? (johnso26)
Mine never did "settle". I didn't cut bushings in the front but raised the bolts to the max. It only dropped 3/8" on one side and 5/8" on the other side. Hmmmm....I already had the Bilsteins. I wonder if that's why it dropped so little???
Re: Another lowering question: How long for FRONT to settle? (johnso26)
Johnso,
A little too late maybe, but you never want to cut the rear bushings. The ride will be harsher. Just get longer bolts for the rear or use the stock adjusters.
I am going to assume you turned the front bolts the correct way(counterclockwise looking down on the adjuster).
Give the front a few days to settle and it will be fine. Should drop about 3/4 to 1".
Good Luck with it,
Dave
Re: Another lowering question: How long for FRONT to settle? (johnso26)
When you lower the car you will get a 1/2 inch lower in the front and 1 inch in the rear using the stock bolt adjustment with no cutting at all did this to mine and it looks and sits very nice the settling took place with only driving a few miles. BLAZZZN 28 :flag
Re: Another lowering question: How long for FRONT to settle? (johnso26)
MINE NEVER SEEMED ,TO SETTLE SO I CUT THE FRONT BUSHINGS. DOES SEEM TO RIDE A LITTLE ROUGHER. BUT I DONT DRIVE THE CAR EVERYDAY. GET A 4 WHEEL ALIGNMENT OR YOU'LL BE BUYING NEW RUBBER :D
