I have a 01 Z with boltons and tune. I have had an issue when coming to a stop. As I stop at a light the idle will drop to 5oo rpms for a second or two and then shoot back up to normal. There is also a little tap coming from the engine. Any ideas?
Do an idle relearn procedure also check the PCV valve connection tube to the intake for holes or cracks. While you're at it, check the MAF bridge tube and make sure its seated all the way around to the intake therefore insuring no un-metered air is getting in.
If it was fine before and all of a sudden started doing this --i would look for an intake leak or vacuum leak--or the AIR tube came off the air box---If this is a bolt on eng only ( no hds or cam) i wouldn't think it could be anything else---things like cams will make it surge-dye etc but all that can be fixed with tuning---
I would think the only way to test the injectors for leakage would be to extract them yet leaving them connected to the fuel rails, then force the fuel pump to turn on. If any were leaking, they would be dripping then. I don't know the proper way to do it, so just thinking backyard mechanic thoughts here.
