I just installed a Vararam intake on a 97 a4 vette and im having trouble with the radiator shroud fitting like it should, almost like there isnt enough room.
I was just wondering if this was a common issue or if i did something wrong.
Thanks in advance
The vararam will push the plastic radiator shroud in a bit when installed, at least that was my experience. It is a tight fit with the 2 ducts and all. I don't see it it as a problem, just a slight visual flaw. When I was initially installing it I was thinking that there was something wrong with my installation.
Ok thats pretty much what I was wondering cause I pretty much had to fight to get the shroud back in there and get the filter on.
And one more thing on the 97 at least there is a small little tube of some sort that goes into the intake right in front of the MAF and there is not a place on the power duct for it.
Any ideas of what it is or whats its for, and what I can do with it
my guess it is the air intake for the secondary air pump...put a breather on it or give it filtered air
It only has a diameter of about a millimeter so there is no way to put a breather on it I wouldnt think.
I was thinking about just drilling into the flexi hose that connects the power duct to the MAF and sticking it in there.
And we did not get it from a dealer, it was at Carlisle but we told the guy, cant remember his name, that it was a 97 so he gave us the 97-2000 one. We are going to have to get a different one cause this one does not fit anyways.
Oh and in the stock air duct on the left hand side you can see where that tube would plug in on the later models like on my 02. It is a small flat round spot close to the intake manifold, if anyone was wondering
