red z... i would assume that, with a missing button in the end, you're looking at having to replace the whole stalk... my effing button flew out yesterday, so now i get to replace it too.. (not THAT big of a deal, because replacing the motor didn't solve my problem)
So, if mine isn't the only one, there seems to be a design defect. To bad this isn't the safety hazard. Otherwise, it falls under recall. Does anyone check recall bullentin to see it this is there (wishful thinking)?
Had exactly the same problem with my '02 Z06. The washer pumped dry and the wipers wouldn't stop. Had to put paper strips between the contactors at the end of the wiper stalk to stop them. If I'm able to reinstall the wiper button and the spring that came out with it, I think the problem will be solved without expense. Otherwise, it appears I'll have to replace the stalk assembly (+/- $175)... plus labor if I can't do it myself.

Reason: To clarify
The temps were hovering around 30degs and I did not want to fiddle with it myself. I broke down and sent it in to a chevy dealer. $250 for new wiper switch, $250 for labor and $15 for unexplained misc items and came to $560 with tax.
I drove home and filled the reservoir with new fluid and push the button. Drum Roll...
Wiper works and the washer pump is running but no fluid sprays out. !#$@#$#
I also have some kind of moisture ingress that require running dehumidifier inside. They did clean udder but it must be something else. I'll have to check the A/C condensation drain.
