Default Lowering question about bushings

Its been probably 5 years since I lowered it on stock bolts I recently replaced the F45 shocks and sways with C6 Z06 parts and now the car is, well higher then Id like. How do you cut the bushings just remove the bolt completly and it comes out Im assuming?

If your set on cutting the stock bushings. Yes you can completely remove them, cut off the rubber bushing and reinstall. Some have cut the bushings while still in place on their car.
My self, I would buy an aftermarket front lowering kit. They come with the bushings all ready cut off. That way you could save the original GM adfusters/bushings. GM does not sell these adjusters seperately. You have to buy the complete spring w/adjusters. Good luck.

For the front, after it's in the air, unbolt the lower shock mounts and the upper A arm nut, (you will have to tap it with a hammer to knock it loose after the bolt is removed). This will get the bottom A arm down low enough to get the bolt out completely. You may need a 2nd jack to push up on the leaf spring as well, but usually you can push down on the a arm to get the bolt out.

Some guys get in there with a box knife, there are write ups on it, but that rubber is tough stuff, I needed to put it in a vise and saw it with a hacksaw, so I don't know how they're cutting it with a razor.

Cut off the bushing, leaving about 1/8" for cushion.

For the rears, you can cut the bushings at the top or bottom or both to get more out of the bolt (not sure if you have stock or a/m bolts).

how necessary is an alignment?
Also, this link below basically makes it sound like lowering is simple and only requires turning the bolts...so why cut the bushings?

Well mine was just where I wanted it before but then I swapped out my F45 shocks and sway bars and the new C6 Z06 shocks riased it up some. I had already maxed the bolts out so in order to get it down where i want it Im going to have to cut them down a few ribs.

Question for those of you who have cut the bushings how many ribs did you hack off the rears?
Thanks Rich

i am in this process now....lowered this wknd on stock bolts, rounded a front one so gonna have to replace that one.

ordering my c6 z06 shocks today and probably will order sways sometime over winter also.......

now to the question, how much did the z06 shocks raise your front? i am assuming the shocks you replaced were just worn slam out? Just curious since i am about to tackle same thing.
