Just drained the coolant... now it seems like when I try to re tighten the valve for the drain plug it just ... turns and nothing happens... am I doing this wrong? It is my first time.

Unless you damaged/broke it when removing, all you need to do is re-insert it (far enough - remember that o-ring?) and gently turn it 1/4 turn clockwise. Maybe you're not lining it up correctly and it's not getting inserted deep enough in the first place.
So I barely loosened it when fluid came out... now I am trying to re tighten and just when it feels like its getting tight again... It just gets loose..
When I changed my coolant I thought I cracked my radiator.
The plug should have a small metal pin sticking out at the side. The one snapped on mine when I unscrewed it too much.
After I took it out, i didn't know it was supposed to have a metal pin. Then checked the radiator and it looked cracked because of the grove.
But the pin is actually suppose to go into the grove and lock in. Check your plug if it still has its pin. If not get a new plug and put it into the radiator.
Fixed... the Pin wasn't missing however it was bent Thanks for all the advice everyone, I really appreciate it all! Special thanks to LoneStarFRC and 8VETTE7 for the "extra mile" on posting and assuring that I understood.
