There are a couple of members that are using the older looking T-handles. How the heck did they do it.
I think this is the greatest retro look possible. I have a Kirban so I know that handles can be changed. Please someone clue me in. I gotta have. :seeya
Parts from a ' 78...... the threads are an EXACT fit. The "T" toggle slips right over the
shaft, and is of course NOT functional, but really looks like an old Muncie.
The two parts were ordered from ZIPS (see their catalog) and totalled around $40
as I recall.......
I did this mod too. Be careful when you get the T part because there is one that is very short. The later one 78-82 is the longer one.
The other nice thing is that the ball is threaded almost all the way through - the ball will sit lower on the shaft. When I had it on my stock shifter, I cut the shifter down by about 3/4" and it was great. It sat low and the shift throw was shortened quite a bit,
When I installed my Hurst shifter I cut the shaft about 3/8" - just enough to get it in line with my arm.
