Default Short in mirror circuit

I have an 04 coup. Have no power to mirror due to short.
[fuse will blow instantly]
Is there a known spot in the circuit that seems to short out
more than other areas?
Thanks for any info.

What's the history? Any lighting mods? LEDs, etc?

Nope, no mods, everything stock.
It is a dimming mirror.

It sounds like you have the wires pinched in the boot area of the door - this does happen at times where the harness gets misaligned and the wires get exposed and rub thru and short!

You will need to expose the wires by pulling the boot back and inspecting the wires going to the mirror - it might be best to pll the door panel on the mirror or mirrors you are inspecting and pull the kick panel for full visability - that is the best way to start - get an inspection mirror and a good LED flash light and that will be a great help! ;thumbs:

Thanks,Matt

The OP identified the mirror in question as a "dimming mirror", which suggests to me that it is not the outside mirrors........so what does the door wiring have to with the rear view mirror 12 volt circuit?

Tore into tonight circuit #640 is shorted.
This circuit includes vanity mirror, inside rearview mirror,
underhood,& glove compartment lights. (I did'nt realize that all those were'nt working)
The rearview mirror is OK I had that working on the bench.
It's not the under hood light @ least from light down to 1st connector.
I'll check the rest tommorow.

I had same problem. Turned out the wiring to the vanity mirror light on the passenger side was melted and shorted out in the visor. Good luck with your repair.

Good trouble shooting - Remember there is a bunch of wires that come out of the Footwell where the BCM is and right into the compartment where the battery sits and should some of the battery's acid have dripped onto the wires that could be the short - just an extra area to look at

Thanks,Matt

Found it!!!!!!! The orange wire leading to driver side visor located under upper windshield

Hey guys thanks for the suggestions
Greg

Now the pain of putting it back together.
