Connecticut Emissions Test Info
I passed emissions yesterday with my stock 2001 coupe with pup and main cats. I fibbed and said it had a 2002 Z-06 no pup cat exhaust on it, they said they didn't care. The DMV form has a checklist for visual inspection of the cats, but they didn't look for them at all. They just did a sniffer test with a probe on each side at 25mph, no idle test at all. They said they were going to test in 2nd gear, but I couldn't verify that, I think it was in 4th. I could see into the car during the 25 second run and it threw every code in the book, traction, abs, active handling and more I think. It drove fine afterwards with no codes showing. I hope this helps someone with mods.

I would think all of the states moving over to the IM240 testing and/or using the scanner to check the run-time tests in the PCM, will probably stop looking for cats. It will become fairly obvious to them if they need to look, as your tail pipe emissions will give it away. I never had the emissions testers in Arizona look under my car during/before/after the test. Here in Colorado, they did look right off. I had a buddy who failed and they went through a checklist on the car once they had the results. He got nailed for a bunch of emissions devices missing.
