Default Engaging / Grinding first gear problemed SOLVED

Or at least so far. Been 10 days and about 500 miles and not a single problem getting my car into 1st gear. I had problems with getting my car into first gear several times per day since I got it. I did not want to post to early and start singing the praise of Red Line fluids but I am convinced it was the solution to my problem.

Changed my transmission and differential to Red Line and have had nothing but smooth shifting since. Transmission had 59k miles on it and shifts better than it ever has.

I can't say enough, the difference is NIGHT and DAY. And again not one single problem engaging first gear since the change.

Now if my Hurst would ever get here. :cry

John,
Which Redline products did you use? I have only 1000 mi on my 2001 and have no complaints about how it shifts yet. Changing to Redline now should keep it from becoming rough. Thanks.

John,
Which Redline products did you use?
I order the "package" from CAU, price is right
http://www.stores.yahoo.com/corvette...agdrainp2.html
When your under the car get this taken car of also. CAGS
http://www.stores.yahoo.com/corvette...peedcagel.html

The CAGS eliminator and oil package was the best $98 dollars I spent in a long time. CAU got it to my door within a few days.

If you can find Red Line at your local speed shop, I used 2 qts of 75W90 (diff) and 4 qts of D4ATF (trans).

Mine did the same thing until several thousand miles was on it. NOTHING else made any difference, other than "break-in."

John - are you sure - maybe it was the metal gear chunks that finally got drained out ... not the fluid :) (j/k) - Nah , but seriously - yeah, I gotta do that ... to the vettes.
