I'm trying to install the Donaldson Blackwing, and am not sure how to remove the stock airbox assembly. I already removed the "accordion" section along with the bellow and the MAF. Can't seem to pull the airbox out. Should I leave the 2 clips locked and rotate it out somehow, or should I unclip them? The airbox appears to be attached by a hinge below.
If you feel around to the bottom of the filter, it is hooked on down below by two of those place holders like the two on the top of it. Just pull on it and it will pop off, try to get some leverage from the bottom of the filter, or put your hand on them to make them slide off there a little easier.

Re: Stock airbox removal (Rapid Transit)
The stock air box is retained to the front cross brace by two push on grommets that slip over two studs facing aft. If you have a big, long screwdriver, you can gently pry the airbox housing rearward near the point where the two studs are. The two round holes in the Blackwing coincide with the same two holes in the stock airbox. It's actually a little harder to explain than if you were to see it. Just remember, the airbox moves rearward to come off of the two studs. Sometimes the grommets stay on the studs and sometimes they may stay in the holes in the airbox. Just re-install them in the Blackwing when you're ready to put the Blackwing in the car. Hope that helps. :)
