ok ive been working on getting my car back on the road..its a 99 auto...was in an accident..i drove it about 50 miles and it started revving high when it changed to third, plus its slipping a little in reverse..when this started the dic said high trans temp and it went up to about 235...could this be something from the front end accident?i had the trans flushed and refilled...i also bought new filter...is trans toast?would it even be worth changing out filter?thanks for any help or suggestions...
the cooler hose is crimped about 3/4 closed..it comes from a rectangle shaped cooler and is u shaped..is this a trans cooler or is thgis something else?if so what?is this correct?wasnt sure if the radiator did all the cooling or if this rectangle one was also trans cooler...also i think the trans line is running wrong into radiator..its running under the sway bar and the rubber line is smashed about half way closed...i hope this may be the problem, but im thinking i wont be so lucky...
well the rectangle cooler i thought may be trans cooler turns out to be ps cooler.changed the filter today with no change to shift problem..its kinda hard for me to believe that this happened with no warning, all of a sudden..also from time to time it will slip a bit in reverse...
Remember even though the fluid went to 235 degrees it was for a short while and that did make a "state" change where the fluid is changed permanently, that is why the fluid still looked good. Fluid does not burn quickly in most cases, it must stay at that temperature for a certain time to make this change, which in your case it did not.
