Cartek Heads/Cam Installed... WOW!!!
Lasty, I would like to thank everybody at Cartek for the their awesome work and customer service. I dropped this car off 3/16, and it was finished on 3/21, two days ahead of when I was scheduled to pick up the car! And they didn't just take a used heads/cam setup and throw it in my car, they went over every single aspect and made sure it was as good as new... valve job, new valve springs, and they even did a tune up while it was apart! Thanks to Dave, Julio, Mike, Kevin, Roy, and anybody at Cartek that played a part in transforming my car into the streetable race car I've always wanted.
I just got mine back friday from MMS. Like your's it will take a while to get used to the exhaust sound. It's waaay louder than before.

Just got mine back from ARE yesterday, it's like getting a brand new car :yesnod:

I think you'll comfortably be in ROLL BAR territory. Enjoy the power of that beast! See you at the challenge...and good luck hooking on your current tires!
JD
I am contemplating this as my next MOD.
How much did this cost you installed. I will be haveng it installed in Atlanta. I just need an Idea of what to expect.
I think I will order the Cartek package though
Lee
Also I dont want the hassle of filling the bottle all the time. But I am lazy.
Let me know what you decide

Stealth, I'm actually making a couple $$$ by getting the Borla, I can sell my Corsa's for more than the Borla Singer cost me. And... as you well know, a C5 can never be too loud! :D As for the gears, thanks for the offer, but I'm dead broke until at least the winter. At that point I may do 3.90 or 4.10s along with the Cartek clutch. Plus, cage comes before gears
Thanks Max, it was good meeting you yesterday. Oh yeah, traction control is not a bad thing, it's a good thing when you have 475hp and want to live to see 25! :D
JD, I think my 275 Nitto DRs will work pretty well with this setup. The power delivery is very smooth, there isn't one peak in the dyno graph, and should make the car fairly managable in the 1/4 with a nice long burnout.
c5 lee, I'd rather not post on the forum what I paid for the package, there were a lot of variable, used parts, etc. Email me privately and I'll give you the details. If you call Cartek, talk to Dave or Julio and get a quote on the X-Package parts only, LS6 heads, X-cam, and ported LS6 intake, I'm honestly not sure what the parts alone cost. I'd say you can expect between $1000 and $1500 for the install, and then try to find a shop that can dyno tune it, that'll be an additional $500 or so. Good luck!
NYtoCA, definately do heads/cam over nitrous if you can afford to. With heads/cam you always have that power and sound. With nitrous you only have the added power when you race, where as the heads/cam truly transforms you car into something completely different than it was before. You can get the same 1/4 times from both, but I'd rather enjoy the power and sound everytime I drive the car. Plus, you can always add nitrous to heads/cam later if you want, and have a 10 second car on the bottle. :yesnod: Good luck with whatevery you choose.
Moundir, I now have Nitto 285/35/18s in back, they hook pretty well on the street. I can't even imagine drivng this car with the runflats, would've been scary as hell.
