Default Squeek under hood
There is a squeek under the hood of my 98 c5. How can i tell which belt is makeing the noise?

Take one at a time off and run the engine for a few moments.

I recently had this same problem. Replaced both belts with Gatorbacks and both idlers also.

Once I removed both belts, I spun both idlers by hand and they sounded like rollerskates.

GM has a TSB for the Accessory Idler (not the A/C Idler) for a distorted shield problem. Their idler comes with the shield.

Once I replaced both idlers, I torqued the bolts to GM specs.

Noise gone!
