My automatic transmission has gone bad after 170+ miles. I have a 2000 base c5 a4. For a replacement, can I use any 4l60e? such as that from an older chevy silverado? thanks for answering my question. sorry if it is very amateur. thanks!
A truck 4l60e mounts to the back of the engine and is a different housing to the Vette which is rear mounted.
The front portion of the C5 trans may be the same but I don't know that it's a simple matter of removing the tailhousing and bolting it up to the diff. If they are compatible from the center case portion then it should swap in. The 4l65e came in some trucks and is a bit stronger.

Nope the 4l60e is only the same as far as internals. Mounting of the two are different. The truck version has a bell housing and houses a physically bigger torque converter. The vette version obviously doesnt have a tail housing plus output shafts are different lengths.
