Default oil pressure operating range?

I changed my oil and I'm running mobil 1 10w 30 and at start up its around 52 psi and norma operating around 65 to 67. I have a ported oil pump as well. Just seeing if this is okay. During normal driving range is around 40 to 42. Im also running the Fram oil filter which is what came off the car. Jay

what's a high oil pressure level where there should be any concern? mine always stays within the gauge's range. but high in the rpm band its getting pretty close to 80. I know the motor can survive at redline for hours or days. just looking for someone to say you never have to worry about it being too high unless the needle is way off the charts (if that's true of course)

My OEM oil pump puts out similar pressure to yours. What benefit does this "ported oil pump" provide?

Very interesting. Does the ported pump deliver 62 psi @ 1500 RPM at normal operating temperatures (200 - 230 deg F)?

I have a ported LS6 oil pump also, I'm not sure exactly what the pressure readings are because that gauge doesn't seem to display real time data. but it seems to me that it displays around 40 most of the time. higher when the rpms are higher of course.

It depends on outside temperature and RPM. At a reasonable temp and low RPM, I will be around 40psi. If it is really hot out, my oil pressure at idle will drop down to low 20's. At high RPM, it gets very high.

They are all fine. If you drop below 20 for extended periods of time I would be concerned. If your gauge pegs, it is probably because the sending unit is bad.

At 200+ Oil temp its around 40-45 psi normal driving.. and abot 38 to 39 at idle. It gets upward in the 68s when i get on it. Do you think the Fram oil filter has anything to do with it? I also went ot a 10w30 instead of a 5w30 which would make sense as to why its a higher psi. Jay

The 5W-30 Mobil 1 has a slightly higher viscosity @ 100 deg C than the 10W-30 blend. I'm sure the viscosity is lower at low temperature since it has a 5W low temp rating vs 10W.
